If you have ever watched Good Morning Call, then you know that there is a special meaning behind milk pudding. I am not a fan of pudding, but I couldn’t just write about the drama and not try to make it. Who does that? I modified the milk pudding recipe from this website.
Cooking Pudding
The recipe called for Custard. I search up and down the baking aisle looking for it. What I found was expensive and I wasn’t sure it was what I needed. But then something amazing happened. While I was at the store looking for custard, I wondered “what does custard look like anyways.” I ended up on this website where I found a homemade custard recipe. Bonus: I have everything I needed…except I only used vanilla extract and not the pods.
Once the custard was created, I went on with the recipe. I had never cooked with gelatin before, so I wasn’t sure how to use it. I just threw it in the pot with the hot mixture. It turned lumpy. FAIL. First off I never worked with gelatin, as I said before. So don’t Judge me, Thank you very much. Secondly, why soak in water beforehand. I like to have a purpose for doing things, you know? Well after my blooper I researched it and according to Google the gelatin needs to re-hydrate. So don’t skip that step.

The Finished Project
The best test to determine whether something was a success or not, is to try it on other people. My son liked the pudding a lot. He called it ice cream. It did smell like vanilla due to the custard powder. My daughter hated it. I think she’s like me and doesn’t enjoy the strange texture of pudding/jello.
Since I couldn’t find custard at the store, I made my own. I found this recipe online. I couldn’t find Vanilla pods, So I used vanilla extract and I ended up adding too much. FAIL. I think that is why my son thought it was ice cream.
