Playful Kiss is a drama I originally watched in 2012 when I first discovered it on Netflix. At the time, I didn’t care for it nor understood the story. It wasn’t until I watched its Japanese counterpart, Mischievous Kiss, and the Taiwanese, It Started with a Kiss, did I start to understand the story.
This story was the first time I realized that Asian countries, like American (North and South), share stories among each other. And it started with a manga. Itazura Na Kiss is a Japanese Shojo manga series written and illustrated by Kaoru Tada in 1990.

Whew! They really love this story. I really love this story, but why? I’m not entirely sure why the rest of the world loves it, but here’s my reasons.
- It is a funny, light heart story.
- Characters are very likable.
- Character growth especially in the main male lead.
- The female lead’s steadfast love.
