Veil of Roses is a story about a young Persian woman who, on her 27th birthday, visits her older sister in the United States in order to get married and become a resident. Even though she comes from Iran, the majority of the story is set in Arizona, so much of the places are located nearby. The following are the travel locations that are mentioned in the book.
Tehran
Tamila’s family lived in Tehran. It is located in the north central part of Iran near the Caspian Sea. The population of the city alone is 8.8 million, making it the most populous city in Iran and in Western Asia. 99% of the population speak Persian and the majority of the population are Muslim.
Some places of interest are the Azadi Tower, Milad Taver, and Tabiat bridge (which was complete in 2014).

Tucson
Tamila’s sister lived in Tucson. Tamila went to live with her there. Tucson is a city located in Arizona in the United States. It is about 60 miles from the Mexican state of Sonora. Also known as “The Old Pueblo” 520,116 people inhabit the city making it the 33rd largest city in the United States. The name Tucson is derived from the O’odhma language meaning “(at the) base of the black (hill). The black hill the name is referring to is Sentinel Peak. A few places to visit in the city are Reid Park zoo, Tucson Botanical Gardens, Saguaro National Park.

El Encanto Estates
EL Encanto Estates is the neighborhood that Tamila sister lived in the story Veil of Roses. I was actually shocked to find that it is an actually neighborhood. You can see the home listings here. The homes are beautiful, but absolutely out of my price range.
Lake Havasu City
In the Veil of Roses the ESL class decided to take a trip together and rent a cabin at Lake Havasu City. I’ve never heard of the city before so I wanted to learn more about it. Lake Havasu City is located in northern Arizona. It is the southernmost community of Greater Las Vegas. With a population of 52,527; it is an active destination for a wide range of people. It has been featured in MTV Spring Break Twice. Lake Havasu City is home to the International Jet Ski Final race, multiple fishing tournaments, and Havasu Island Hot Air Ballon Fest and Fair. Some places to visit include London Bridge, Nautical Beachfront Resort, and the Aquatic Center.

Grand Canyon
In chapter 6, the ESL class talked about how they take trips at the end of each session. The last trip was to the Grand Canyon. The The Grand Canyon is a river valley in the Colorado Plateau. It is a canyon carved by the Colorado River and a popular tourist destination. 277 miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and about 1 mile deep, the Pueblo Indian were first to inhabit the canyon. Fun tourist activites include skydiving, rafting, hiking, running, and helicopter tours. Some of places to visit around the canyon include Grand Canyon National Park, Kaibab National Forest, Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument, Hualapai Indian Reservation, Havasupai Indian Reservation, and the Navajo Indian Reservation.

Sabino Canyon
One of the ESL students wanted to talk about a student to visit this place. This canyon is located in the Santa Catalina mountains and Coronado National Forest that is west of Tucson. You can walk, hike, and ride a tram through the canyons. When you ride the tram, you can take a 45 minute 3.8 mile tour with 9 stops along the way. The wildlife you might spot are white tail deers, javelinas, skunks, tortoises, road runners, peccaries, tarantulas, and snakes.

Las Vegas
In the last chapter of the book, the ESL class traveled to Lake Havasu City, but after one day decide to take a quick trip to Las Vegas instead.
The Venetian
When they got to Las Vegas, they’re hotel was booked at the Venetian. This hotel is a 5 diamond luxury hotel and casino resort located on the Las Vegas strip. It features the Guggenheim Museum, 4 theatres, a wedding chapel, pools, and nightclubs.
and there is of course, the famous gondola rides.

The Fountains at Bellagio
Despite the characters in the book, not visiting this place, it was mentioned. I do think it is a place worth visiting if you are going to Las Vegas.
Elvis Chapel
The last place the characters visit was the Elvis Chapel in Las Vegas, which makes Veil of Roses seem totally cliché.
The characters in this book go to visit or talk about a lot of interesting places to visit. Have you ever been to any of the places? Please comment below and let me know.
