In the drama Rita, there were three famous Danish people that were mention, but I had never heard of them. I decided to write about them because I like to learn more about different people around the world. I hope you find them interesting too.
Michael Strunge
Michael Strunge is a Danish poet born in Rødovre. He is one of the most influential post modern poets in Denmark and is one of the main figures in the Danish literary movement known as “firserlyrikken” (poetry of the 80s) and “punkpoesi” (punk poetry). Strunge was infatuated with David Bowie and many of his poems were inspired by him.

Laurits Andersen Ring
A painter who pioneered in both in symbolism and social realism in Denmark. He became a painter’s apprentice because his older brother took over his dad’s shop. After two years of private study, he attended the Danish Academy of Arts. He was born as Laurits Andersen, but decided to change his name to L.A. Ring (after the town he was born in), so that he wouldn’t get confused with his painter friend with the same last name, H.A. Brendekilde. The following is the painting that Rita’s class analyzed.
