In episode 4 of the drama Goblin, Kim Shin reads the book May the Stars Carry Your Sadness Away. The scene below shows him reciting the poem as she is walking towards him. It’s a beautiful poem that connect what he feels at the current moment.
The Poet and His Poetry
Researching the poet, I could not find anything. It must all be on Korean websites. But I even did a Naver search writing the author’s name in Hangul and still nothing. I thought it would be nice to find out more about the person behind the poem.
I did find out that there are 101 poems in the book and that book sales jumped soon after the episode was released. It didn’t occur to me that this is also product placement, but it was placed so well that I didn’t even realized.

The Physics of Love
Mass is not proportional to volume.
A girl as small as a violet.
A girl who moves like a flower petal
pulling me toward her with more force than her mass.
Just then,
like Newton’s apple,
I rolled toward her without stopping until I fell on her,
with a thump.
With a thump.
My heart keeps bouncing between the sky and the ground.
It was my first love
Thoughts
If you didn’t care for poetry before after reading this you think, “Well poetry is kind of nice.” At least that’s what I think after reading this (although I did like poetry before hand). Poetry is nice because I know those words. But for me to place them in that order and for it to sound so beautiful is a skill that’s beyond my capabilities. And that reason lives me in awe.

P.S. I would have attempted a graphic like with this poem, but there are some really cute ones already on Pinterest.

Hi Marisa, thank you for sharing this amazing poetry, even reading it for like the 100th time is still awesome, I am a student of English Literature and I am trying to translate this beautiful poem to Persian/Farsi but I wanted to ask the poet`s permission before I do that cause I am trying to publish the translation in a magazine so I really want to ask the poet`s permission but I can not find his email address anywhere, by any chance, do you know his email address or do you know how I can contact him? I would really appreciate it if you could do me this huge favor, thank you

Did you manage to do this, Maryam jaan?

Sadly, no.
I graduated in 2020 and since I didn`t have the chance to find the poet, I found it inappropriate to touch his work without his permission.
