If you have been reading my blog, then you know that I absolutely love Mischievous Kiss. It is one of my favorite dramas (and stories). Truth be told, it took me a long while to watch Mischievous Kiss 2. I was afraid that it wouldn’t be able to uphold the greatness of the first one. But once I watched it, I fell in love with it as much as the first one.
Summary
The story continues for Kotoko and Naoki. Irie is well on his way to becoming a doctor. And Kotoko finally figures out what she wants to do for a career. The couple goes through many challenges–more so Kotoko because of her clumsy nature (which makes for hilarious situations).
Review
I love this drama. And I love the consistency in the story, the characters, the comedy, and the situations. There’s a bit of character growth for Irie, Kin-chan, and Yuuki.
Characters
Naoki Irie ( Yuki Furukawa ) is still his mean self, but he is surprisingly romantic–mainly in an indirect way (I absolutely love it!). In fact, I don’t remember seeing an Asian drama with so many kisses (possibly in the drama Coffee and Vanilla, but I’m not sure).
Kotoko Irie (Honoka Yahagi) seems to still be her positive, clumsy, enamored self. She is often insecure and questions Naoki’s love for her. I see this as an example of when love languages don’t match up.
Kin-chan (Yuki Yamada) is still in love with Kotoko until he learns to leave a married woman alone. He finally gets his love though with a gaijin, Chris from England. Chris (Noemie Nakai) is devoted to being with Kin-chan.
Yuki Irie (Yuga Aizawa and Yoshiaki Miyagi) starts off young for the majority of the series, but later grows up after several years pass. His personality seems similar to Naoki, but he turns out to be a little nicer (only a little though).
This season we don’t get to see Jinko ( Nanami Fujimoto) and Satomi (Kasumi Yamaya) as much. But it’s often like that in real life with friends after high school. Kotoko does make new friends in her classes though, which provides us with a wealth of new entertainment.
Production
The production of the second season is much better than the original. But it still isn’t as amazing the Korean dramas. There is still a lot of overacting–which I love.
Scenes
I had to hold back some scenes because I don’t want to ruin the drama for anyone who hasn’t seen it. But honestly there are so many scenes that I love had to stop myself.
Music
The music from this drama doesn’t really stick with me. Here are some of the songs from the drama.

- Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo Season 1 (Kiss me, It Started with a Kiss, They Kiss Again, Miss in Kiss, Fall in Love at First Kiss)
- Slice of Life: Good Morning call Season 1 and Season 2, Age of Youth (Oh My Twenties), Fight My Way, Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Other things I enjoyed
- I also love that the acting from the characters. They showed a lot of emotions.
- I love how Naoki motivates Kotoko (and other people use him to motivate her as well.)
- I felt that the story line between Chris and Kin-chan was kind of weak.
- I love the comedy style. It was the opposite of what is expected, but it is also repetition of the expected.
- Naoki opens up more about his emotions, but still codes his feelings. She doesn’t always translate it very well. That’s why I say they have different love languages. But I also love that he knows her well.
