I will be writing weekly episode recaps about Crash Landing on You (or trying to). Recaps are typically uninspiring. If I want an episode play-by-play, I can watch the show. This is a disclaimer: There will be spoilers, be prepared. If you would like to start from the beginning of the series, go here.
Five Things Things That Happened This Episode
- Se Ri meets the men of company 5.
- Captain Ri wants to investigate the death of the artifact hunters.
- Seung Jun (the scammer) hides out in North Korea.
- A surprise home inspection
- The ending scene after the credits
1. Se Ri Meets the Men of Company 5
The men of company 5 unintentionally chased Se Ri into North Korea. They didn’t report it. There are 4 men that work under Captain Ri that are involved. Because they didn’t report nor kill her, they decided to help make an escape plan. If they are caugt, it’s game over for them. Se Ri stays at Captain Ri’s home for the time. And Captain Ri assigns the 4 men to protect her (or keep her out of trouble).
2. Captain Ri Wants to Investigate the Death of the Trio
Captain Ri finds the death of the trio (the artifact hunters) suspicious. He heads into Pyongyang to ask Cho Cheol Gang (because we can totally trust the dude) to grant permission to investigate. This leads Cho Cheol Gang to call up some of his people and Captain Ri is unethically interrogated. Seeing this, another officer saves him, name dropping the title of Captain Ri’s father–he director of the general political bureau (whatever that means).
Not only do we learn about is father’s title. We learn that that means something to Cho Cheol Gang. And we also see that Captain Ri had a brother.
3. Seung Jun Decides to Hide Out in North Korea
Mr. Moneybucks (Seung Jun) chooses North Korea as his hideout–thinking for sure he won’t be found. He drops a little over a million a month in order to have the best–a nice mansion fully staffed in a secluded areas.
4. A Surprise Home Inspection
As the men of company 5 head back to the headquarters, they run into Cho Cheol Gang. He tells them of a surprise home inspection. They panic and call Captain Ri explaining that situation, but adding on the fact that they told Se Ri not to answer any phone calls. Captain Ri borrows a car from the officer that saved him from interrogation. He speeds the whole drive there. Apparently, he is driving a ‘729’ car, which is the highest officers in the military. They are granted special privileges.
From speeding, Captain Ri finally arrives to his house. Just in time to save Se Ri. Creating an excellent cliffhanger for the next episode.
5. An Ending Scene
When I first watched this episode, I didn’t catch the end scene. But the end scene has so much information that I’m glad that I went back to check. From the end scene, we learned that in the past Captain Ri and Se Ri were in Switzerland at the same time.
I love when dramas do the past connection thing aka the red string of fate. It seems like the two leads were destined to be together.
Quote
There was one quote from this episode that I really liked from Captain Ri: “Fortune and misfortune are like a twisted rope, so they come in turn. Everything will be fine soon.”

Here are a few scenes that I enjoyed in the drama.

On another note, I’m going to have to make a post about all the delicious food I’ve seen.
Drama to Life
I feel a bit odd writing this here because there are still so many episodes that I have yet to see. Nevertheless, here are some things:
